Agenda

  1. Letter of support for Fedora's "Designing a Migration Path" IMLS Grant
  2. Should version information contain a digest for the previous version? (Issue #7)
  3. Review action items (GitHub Issues)
  4. Reminder Community Call May 25th @11am ET (Agenda for Community Call)
  5. Update on ocfl.io

Notes

  1. Not much more to say about the letter of support, other than we welcome Fedora's intentions.

  2. Much debate around how and where to store previous inventory file's versions. General intent:

  • prior version directory contents are immutable.
  • most current version directory should contain an inventory file.
  • the root directory should contain the same inventory file as the most current version directory.
  • there should be 'some way' to store the checksum of the most current inventory file.

Options considered:

  • A namaste file of the checksum (e.g. : f14d51fa764bd207ce60200b17f7569cec5fc30f10659221ff2c246935ca5628dafd1faf2ad3d1234c7c6f0581f107f7beb07aa8e41caf3efaa027943c48b154 )
  • A stub file containing nothing but the checksum (e.g. inventory.jsonld.sha512 )
  • A stub file containing the checksum in the same format as the main inventory file
  • storing the checksum in an external datastore (possible TRAC-compliant feature)
  1. Reviewing action items led to several of us realizing we should address the action items.

  2. What are the desired outcomes of this Friday's community call?

  • Highlighting editorial progress since last month
  • seeking feedback on issues that we're wrestling with
  • giving AndrewH an opportunity to step through some design details / example structure
  1. ocfl.io is being registered; 5 year term.

Action Items

  1. AndrewH will construct a sample directory and file layout to illustrate options for inventory checksum storage.
  2. OR2018 participants (AndrewH, Rosy, Julian, Neil) will meet up at Open Repositories for an in-person design jam, schedules willing.
