Problem statement

Most of our repositories still use master as the default branch's name.

High-level Goals

Use main as the default branch's name.

Proposal description

Change the default branch on existing repositories so that we use main instead of master.

Additional context

https://github.com/github/renaming

Acceptance Criteria

  • All repositories under thoth-station use main as their default branch
  • Any references to master have been corrected to reflect the change

Issues go stale after 90d of inactivity.
Mark the issue as fresh with /remove-lifecycle stale.
Stale issues rot after an additional 30d of inactivity and eventually close.

If this issue is safe to close now please do so with /close.

/lifecycle stale

@sesheta sesheta added the lifecycle/stale Denotes an issue or PR has remained open with no activity and has become stale. label Jul 3, 2022

What are the references to master we use, besides local git repos ?

Apparently everything on github besides github actions is retargeted/redirected
automatically.

I did not see a way to rename in branch in bulk on all org repos, but maybe
there is a GraphQl endpoint for that 🤔
