Description

I have nominated, and maintainers have agreed to add Bukhtawar Khan (@Bukhtawar) as a co-maintainer, who kindly accepted.

Bukhtawar is the main author and maintainer of Asynchronous Search. He has reviewed/approved significant core contributions including Indexing backpressure and search resource tracking. He personally has also made 4 feature PRs into OpenSearch, and quite a few into the version before fork. He was already actively opening issues in Elastic and is now continuing to do so in OpenSearch, and driving many of them with other members (33 open, 32 closed).

Some of Bukhtawar@’s most interesting contributions:

• Asynchronous Search, mostly in OpenDistro
• FileSystem Health Check Framework via Introduce FS Health HEALTHY threshold to fail stuck node #1167
• Handle shard over allocation during partial zone/rack or independent node failures  #1149

Bukhtawar is active almost daily in the project, thoughtfully reviewing and commenting on pull requests (example). He also patiently helped other engineers through multiple rounds of CRs all the way to merging in the following.

I was able to add @Bukhtawar to @opensearch-project/opensearch-core since he's part of the org. But @reta is not part of the org, we haven't figured out a process for that, cc: @hyandell.
