(I just fixed this problem in dartc, and assuming its a valid test, its a problem in the VM too)

I don't think this is legal use of the language as a constructor can only initialize its own fields, which is being broken in the B constructor here. Over to Gilad to clarify one way or another and make sure the spec clearly states the intent.

The example is illegal. The spec says:

A final variable can only be assigned once, when it is initialized, or a compile-time error occurs.

I may add this as an example to the spec. If this is accepted by any of our implementations, it's wrong.
