Our goal is to develop a user-friendly and cost effective smart assistive device which aids the visually impaired navigate with greater autonomy. The device tracks the patterns in the sound produced by the taps of the cane and alerts the user when there is an anomaly in the sound produced. The device also identifies some of the common objects found everywhere using the sound produced by the tap and alerts the user. The device is mainly targeted for the persons who lost their vision during their lifetime and have difficulties in perceiving the environment using sound.
