Hello @hellocrystal, thank you for reaching out to us regarding installation issues with YOLOv5 🚀.

It seems that you might have some conflicting dependencies. One suggestion is to create a new virtual environment and install the required dependencies into it. Here are a few examples of commands that may work on your system.

Option 1: Install in a new virtual environment

# clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/ultralytics/yolov5.git
cd yolov5
# create a new virtual environment
python3 -m venv env
source env/bin/activate
# install dependencies
pip install -U pip
pip install wheel
pip install -r requirements.txt

Option 2: Install specific versions of conflicting packages

# clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/ultralytics/yolov5.git
cd yolov5
# install specific versions of conflicting packages
pip install 'numpy==1.17'
pip install 'Pillow<7.0.0'
# install remaining dependencies
pip install -r requirements.txt

Please give these suggestions a try and let us know if they help resolve the issue. Thanks!

Hello again @hellocrystal! I'm sorry to hear you're still encountering issues. Let's try to resolve this step by step.

  1. Ensure you have activated your conda environment with conda activate yolov5.
  2. Once activated, try clearing any existing installations that might conflict with:
    pip uninstall -y -r requirements.txt
  3. Then, attempt to reinstall the requirements:
    pip install -r requirements.txt

If you still encounter errors, please copy and paste the error message here so we can better understand the issue.

Regarding your question about package versions, pip will attempt to install versions that satisfy the requirements specified in requirements.txt. If there's a version conflict, it may be due to previously installed packages in your environment or sub-dependencies that have their own version requirements.

If you're willing to submit a PR and have identified a fix for the conflicting dependencies, we'd certainly welcome your contribution to the YOLOv5 project!

Thank you for your patience and for being part of the YOLOv5 community. 🌟
