Any Chance of an AppImage?

I followed all of the steps listed for installing under Linux (Ubuntu 18.04LT in my case) and could not get it to install. I don't suppose there is any chance of ever getting an AppImage, is there?

AppImage won't help if you dont have the required dependencies
UVtools is complied for 20.x.
It can work on 18.04 for sure but require custom compilation.
What step failed to you?

I was under the impression that AppImages were like self contained environments, including any and all dependancies the program needs to run? Meh... I'm no programmer so I don't know. Anyway...

I had already deleted the folder I was working in, so I forget exactly. I retried it today and this is what happedned (although I remember a different scenario last time):

When I ran
sudo apt-get install -y libjpeg-dev libpng-dev libgeotiff-dev libdc1394-22 libavcodec-dev libavformat-dev libswscale-dev libopenexr24 libtbb-dev libgdiplus

it said that it couldn't locate the package for "libopenexr24" so I ran it without that one. I had most of those already installed, but it installed any I didn't have.

Then, when I tried to run UVtools.sh, it gave me this error

I looked in the script and commented out the /bin/bash line (most scripts work ok on my system without that anyway) and then it gave me this log list of errors

Yes, that error is the problem of missing dependencies. You need to find the libopenexr24 package for your system, it may have other name or other repo you can get it.
After that you may still have same problem and that require a compilation of OpenCV using your distro: https://github.com/sn4k3/UVtools#compile-libcvexternso
Also the compilation for opencv will encounter errors because it also made for ubuntu 20.x, with some adaptation it can work but the easier way to get UVtools running is if you upgrade your system to v20

There is a libopenexr22 in the repository, but not 24. I don't see the 24 version anywhere for 18.04. I'd rather not "upgrade" just for the sake of this one program, but I do appreciate your replies Thanks anyway.

libopenexr22 will do, as soon you can compile the opencv after all.
It's always good upgrade your system for the stable versions, more if you have good hardware to take advantage of new tech
