smtube depend on qt webkit, which will be dropped from opensuse. See:

I'll see if I can use Qt WebEngine instead.

How is the port going? AFAICS, gentoo already removed smtube for the same reason (https://bugs.gentoo.org/688852)

There's no port yet. I guess users of distros which remove smtube can use the snap or flatpak packages, which include smtube.

Upstream has no plan to port smtube away from QtWebKit (smplayer-dev/smtube#7). This is the last blocker before we can drop libqt5-qtwebkit.

Let's face the fact current master branch of QtWebkit is stalled since a lot of years and is filled with hundreds of very well known vulnerabilities. Most of them related to remote execution of code. So, it's a very bad idea to keep depending on a very insecure toolkit as QtWebkit.

Fedora is seriously considering to remove qt5-qtwebkit soon. They propose to go as far as to retire applications like Amarok (if its development branch is not stable enough). Most likely QtWebkit will be removed for Fedora 38.

Arch Linux is going to remove qt5-webkit too.

port to qtwebengine builds well with qtwebengine-devel on Fedora , smtube plays videos but info buttons and allow cookies button doesn't work , but that is the path I guess
