Welcome to the Bench_Fan_Controller wiki!

I wanted to update the old two-wire PC fan I have on my electronics workbench to use for sucking away noxious soldering fumes, as it was already worn out when I took it out of a junked desktop ~20 years ago...

And, if I'm going to replace it, I may as well upgrade, so I got a new Noctua 140mm Industrial 3000 RPM fan. Rather than just use a commercial speed controller, I wanted something I had made using a nice display, etc.

This is what I've ended up with: cheap China Arduino Micro clone, cheap China rotary encoder, cheap China SSD1306 GLCD (mine has a yellow bar at the top, and blue bottom part), and a nice Noctua (also made in China....) 140mm fan

I built a wooden extension arm and hung it on a black iron pipe above my bench to keep it out of the way when it's not needed, and to allow me to position it wherever I need it. I'll put up some pictures soon. ish... maybe...
