rtsp-streamer

This is a simple RTSP (RFC 2623) streaming demo using gstreamer on the Nvidia TX2 jetson.

This code is currently incomplete and a list of known issues are below:

  • gst-rtsp-server build with static IP/Port
  • Generate KLV data for embedding in stream. Not yet implemented.
  • Gstreamer support for catching streams. Issues listed below (needs investigating)
  • VLC on TX2. Crashes when connecting to stream
  • VLC in Intel. Untested

Setup

To install gstreamer install the following packages (quick setup some packages may not be required):

sudo apt-get install gstreamer1.0-tools gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad libgstreamer1.0-dev libgstrtspserver-1.0 libgstrtspserver-1.0-dev libglib2.0-dev vlc

Building

make
./rtsp-streamer # Execute binary

Testing

To start RTSP streaming using the gstramer lanuch tool these pipelines can be used for testing

Gstreamer

# Most basic video pipeline (non streaming)
gst-launch-1.0 videotestsrc is-live=1 horizontal-speed=1 ! video/x-raw,width=640,height=480,framerate=25/1 ! xvimagesink
# Once the gst-rtsp-server is running you can catch the video using this pipeline
gst-launch-1.0 rtspsrc location=rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/test ! fakesink # Rolls O.K
gst-launch-1.0 rtspsrc location=rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/test ! decodebin # omxh264dec error on TX2
gst-launch-1.0 rtspsrc location=rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/test ! queue ! h264parse ! omxh264dec ! xvimagesink # Errors

VLC

When starting the server now and directing an RTP client to the URL (like with vlc, mplayer or gstreamer):

rtsp://localhost:8554/test

You can initiate VLC with a dummy interface using the command below. Issues using VLC on TX2.

cvlc rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/test
