Accepting macOS Security Prompts

You may need to accept security prompts to run an application or a script.

Procedure

  1. Double-click the app or script to run.
  2. Depending on the executable type, in the security prompt, either:
    • For apps, click Cancel.
    • For scripts, click OK.
      Important: If the prompt does not appear, make the script executable. See making macOS Scripts Executable.

  3. Open the security and privacy settings:
    1. Press Cmd and Space.
    2. In Spotlight Search, enter Security & Privacy
    3. Select Security & Privacy.
  4. In Security & Privacy:
    1. In the General tab, at the bottom, click the Lock icon.
    2. In the dialog, enter your password and click Unlock.
    3. Ensure that the App Store and identified developers check box is selected.
    4. Click Open Anyway.
  5. In the dialog, click Open.
