Installing in MacOS

I tried to make the file on MacOS Ventura 13.4, but just got too many errors and warnings. mostly of type : references are a C++11 extension [-Wc++11-extensions]

What could I do to successfully compile it in MacOS?

I would recommend using Luarocks for installing.

To install from Luarocks server:

$ luarocks install lrtmidi

To install from local soure code using luarocks:

$ cd lua-lrtmidi
$ sudo luarocks make rockspecs/lrtmidi-scm-0.rockspec

The Makefile in lua-lrtmidi/src is used for development and experimental purposes. It is to be configued by creating a file src/sandbox.mk where the variable PLATFORM needs to be set to MAC for MacOS and MAC_COPTS, MAC_LOPTS needs to be adjusted as well.

It seems strange that your build complains:

main.cpp:4:10: error: 'rtmidi/RtMidi.h' file not found

but also

Do you have rtmidi installed and if so where is it installed?

I would recommend to try using luarocks and send the full output.

Moreover:

RtMidi.h:154:19: warning: rvalue references are a C++11 extension

indicates that you are using RtMidi Version 6.0.0. Up to now lua-lrtmidi has only be tested with RtMidi Version 5.0.0. Can you try using Version 5.0.0 Correction: I justed tested and lua-lrtmidi also works with RtMidi Version 6.0.0.

Update: I fixed some problems. Please try to build with latest commit aaf35de from git using:

$ cd lua-lrtmidi
$ luarocks make rockspecs/lrtmidi-scm-0.rockspec
