LinuxMint 21.3 is based on Ubuntu 22.04.

  • Ubuntu 22.04 and Mint provide QEMU 6.2 in the apt repository.
  • The Quickemu PPA provide QEMU 7.0.0 for 22.04 with all features, including SPICE and SDL, enabled.

You have QEMU 8.2.2 installed. I have no idea where that came from or how it was built, but it appears not to have been built with the SDL or SPICE backends.

  • You can try launching with quickemu --vm macos-sonoma.conf -display gtk
  • Remove QEMU 8.2.2 from your system and use QEMU 7.0.0 from the Quickemu PPA.

That is the best advice I can offer you, but I can't assist you in unpicking the version of QEMU you have installed.
