Resource Manager Compliant Release

This release works with OCI Resource Manager (RM). Simply download the .zip for this release, import it into RM, modify the parameters for your HDP installation if desired, then Plan and Apply. The Apply will generate a URL for you to access Ambari, and cluster setup takes a few minutes depending on whether you enable security or not. By default this installation will run in "simple" mode which does not have Kerberos enabled. If you want to enable Kerberos, change the deployment_type to "secure" prior to running an Apply.

"Simple" release

This release moves all Hadoop cluster provisioning activities into CloudInit using metadata and extended metadata. This means there is no longer any remote execution required to deploy. Deployment also defaults to "simple" meaning the HDP cluster will be deployed without Kerberos. To enable security, change the variable "deployment_type" to "secure" prior to performing Terraform actions. This was done to lower barrier of entry for users who are not familiar with Hadoop in a secure cluster environment, and speed up cluster deployment.

It is highly recommended to enable Cluster Security for persistent clusters.

v1.0.0 Release

This release represents validated HDP and HDF cluster deployment on OCI leveraging Ambari API and CloudInit. It is a move away from the older method of remote execution + bash. This still leverages bash for the cluster deployment, by means of generating Ambari Blueprints as JSON and passing them to Ambari API for host layout & cluster topology.

Future enhancements are planned to support more recent versions of Hortonworks, as of now the included default (v2.x) versions of HDP and HDF will work with this automation.
