The current maintainer process via email here: https://github.com/opensearch-project/.github/blob/main/RESPONSIBILITIES.md#becoming-a-maintainer seems to have some obvious gaps since its internal.

However on the same lines, we can do a voting here in the PR itself. Upon receiving at least three positive (+1) maintainer votes, and no vetoes (-1) we should be good to merge this PR. Else we will discard.
