Meet The Lemurs!

nwstetson edited this page Aug 7, 2022 · 19 revisions

My project consisted of 12 lemurs at the Duke Lemur Center (6 male, 6 female), evenly split among 3 species. Because limb preference may be inherited, I selected lemurs that were not siblings, parent-child, or grandparent-grandchild.

First up, are the mongoose lemurs (Eulemur Mongoz)! Mongoose lemurs are my favorite lemur species. The mongoose lemurs in my study were Carolina and Rico (NHE 1), and Maddie and Duggan (A-Wing).

Next, are the ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur Catta)! The ring-tailed lemurs in my study were Sophia and Randy (NHE 2), and Sierra Mist and Licinius (NHE 8).

Finally, are the Coquerel's sifakas (Propithecus Coquereli)! The sifaka in my study were Furia and Thrax (NHE 9) and Gisela and Rupert (NHE 6). Part way through my study, Gisela and Rupert got moved to live in an indoor enclosure.

Now, learn about how I collected the data.
