Integration with SMath Studio

Mikhail Kulesh edited this page Jan 19, 2018 · 6 revisions

SMath Studio is a freeware (free of charge, but not libre), closed source, mathematical notebook program similar to Mathcad. It is available for Windows, Linux, and on some handhelds. Like microMathematics, SMath Studio oriented around a worksheet and provides numerous computing features and rich user interface. Since microMathematics and SMath Studio have similar philosophy, the authors of these tools have a long-term aim to integrate both tools together.

This page describe a part of this integration: how to open a microMathematics calculation worksheet in SMath Studio

  • First on all, download SMath Studio and install it.

  • Using menu Tools -> Plugins, install a plugin named μMath Files Plugin

  • On the Android device, save your calculation worksheet with extension "mmt" and download it to the desktop where SMath Studio is installed.

  • On the desktop, run SMath Studio and just open the downloaded "mmt" file:

Limitations

A part of mathematical content of microMathematics is currently not fully supported by this plug-in. The functionality that is fully supported and tested is collected in this document. All expression not listed in this document may work, but also may yet not work.

  • Currently, SMath Studio only supports plots of functions with the standard argument "x". It means, argument names differ from "x" are currently not supported by SMath Studio. As s workaround, always use the variable "x" as an argument variable in each function plot. However, you can use arbitrary variable names for the function definition.

  • The plot line styles are not fully supported by SMath Studio

  • In SMath Studio, the array indices start with 1, but microMathematics Plus currently allows us to start arrays with 0 index.

  • Surface and contour plots for functions of two variables are supported by both microMathematics Plus and SMath Studio, but currently can not be imported
