Overriding shifted keys types original key if shift is released first

I've successfully swapped ( with < and ) with > using defoverrides:

However I suffer from a habit of releasing shift quicker than the key I'm shifting, so when I press Shift+, and release Shift before ,, I type , right after (, which is annoying. As far as I understand this is managed by my OS (KDE on Fedora) after kanata's config (when I press Shift+a and release Shift before a, a is not typed).
Nonetheless, I was wondering, is there a way to make this less insufferable from within kanata's config? All I want is the , not to be registered, if the same keystroke was used to type (.

This would be a flaw in the Kanata software based on how defoverrides is implemented. I'll see if I can come up with a fix.

Can you see if #1120 helps. The defcfg option (defcfg override-release-on-activation yes) will release the , output eagerly as soon as the override takes effect.
