  • Minimise socket connection timeouts due to excessive locking (details)

Of note is #52 which should help reduce (but not eliminate) socket errors which seem fairly common (e.g. #21, https://github.com/go-mgo/mgo/issues/473, https://github.com/go-mgo/mgo/issues/498, etc).
