Introduction

This model describes a dissertation or thesis object that is comprised of a multiple parts. This type of object is sometimes referred to as Manuscript Dissertation and includes a set of documents that form the components of a single intellectual object, the dissertation/thesis. An example is a dissertation that is made up of three individual manuscripts that were submitted to academic journals for publication. These manuscripts are presented as a set of files for the purposes of meeting dissertation requirements and are not collapsed into a single intellectual object.

  • Single-file dissertation and thesis model should be referenced when more appropriate

Use Cases

  • Describing the structure of a dissertation or thesis object that contains multiple files that make up the thesis object. This Use Case often manifests as a dissertation that is presented to the University as a set of journal articles, rather than a single cohesive document.
