Roles

Crust Rocky has four roles: validator, candidate, guarantor and user

Validator

Validators are nodes generate blocks in the Crust network, and maintain the entire blockchain network. The validator node needs to have storage resources to bond guarantees. It can receive staking CRU tokens of the corresponding amount, and it needs to stay online, so the validator node is also a node that provides storage resources. The validator participating in the network can obtain the rewards given to the packaged blocks separately and the reward share of each cycle of the blockchain, and bear the risk of fined assets. Validators can also sell storage resources to gain revenue through the storage transaction market.

How to become a validator/candidate?

Candidate

A candidate is a node in the Crust network that participates in the competition to become a validator, but does not qualify for verification. Like the validator node, the post-selector node also needs to have storage resources as a guarantee, and can Staking a corresponding amount of CRU tokens, and it needs to remain online. The difference from a validator node is that the candidate node does not participate in generating the block and cannot obtain the reward given to the generating block node alone. Candidate nodes can get the reward share of each cycle of the blockchain, and at the same time, they can also transfer the storage resources through the storage transaction market to obtain benefits. Candidates and validators are not fixed, and their identity may change with each cycle.

How to become a validator/candidate?

Guarantor

One guarantor is an account that provides guarantee for any one or more nodes in the Crust network. Any account with a CRU token can become a guarantor, its CRU can be used as a secured asset. Guarantors can provide guarantee income by providing guarantees for nodes. To become a guarantor, simply log in to Crust Blockchain Browser and initiate a pledge.

User

Users refer to buyers who use Crust network resources, mainly referring to users who use storage and computing resources. Users will use CRU tokens or other token assets supported in the Crust network to purchase resources and services, such as, the currently officially released first Crust-based web disk application - Crust Cloud Storage Client (you can find the download link in Related Downloads).

Get CRUs

CRUs in rocky are only for testing purpose, you can send email to CrustNetwork@gmail.com to get CRUs for free. Please include following info in your request:

• Your account
• Your affiliation
• What you going to do with those tokens

The operation team will complete the distribution within 3 working days after application.

Testnet Rewards

We encourage everyone to explore Crust from the very beginning. At the same time, the Crust Foundation will reward the following actions:

• Find and submit bugs
• Propose architecture or algorithm improvements and be adopted
• Provide plenty of storage space for testing
