%B is the placeholder for the raw commit body in the git log pretty-format syntax. I don't know why it would work for http repos and not ssh repos..

What happens when you run git log --pretty=format:%B in each repo? Do you get commit messages or a bunch of %B?

Also what version of git are you using? It looks like %B was added in 1.7.2.

This is really a weird phenomenon. It happens in the build machines that we use. the logs on the build machines are like the following.

@cookpete I thought it was 1.7.2, but it seems i didn't look closely.

That's a shame. %B was added in 1.7.2. I'll look into refactoring to use %b instead, which has been available for much longer.

@a-ignatov-parc any wisdom on this? Is there anything else I need to look out for other than %B when looking to support older versions of git?

We can go up to 1.6.1 if we add support for %b. %d is the next placeholder that will come on our way if we want to go further.

All other placeholders are supported starting from 1.5.0 I guess 🤔

Amazing, thanks for that. 1.6.1 will be the earliest we could ever support as we rely heavily on %d (refs, tags, etc) and there's no workaround for that by the looks of it.

I guess you are right.

--decorate flag for git log was mentioned alongside with %d but I'm not sure how it works with earlier versions.
