Pre-Release v0.1 - Planning Phase of the Educational Programming Hangman Game & Website

Welcome to the initial pre-release of our Capstone Project for the University of Maryland Global Campus. At this stage, we are laying the groundwork for an educational platform that combines a responsive website with an interactive hangman game designed to teach programming concepts. This release outlines our vision, the progress made in planning, and the roadmap ahead.

Current Status:

  • Requirement Drafting: We are finalizing the Software Requirements Specification (SRS) document, outlining the key functionalities, user interactions, and technical requirements for both the website and the game.

  • Development Plan/Roadmap Creation: Our team is developing a detailed roadmap that includes milestones, expected features, and a timeline for the project's phases. This planning ensures a structured approach towards achieving our project goals.

Highlights of the Planning Phase:

  • Conceptualization: Introduction of the game concept, focusing on using the hangman game to facilitate learning programming concepts.
  • Technology Stack Selection: Decision on using Godot Engine for game development and HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for the responsive website.
  • Team Roles and Responsibilities: Tasks are distributed among team members, with specific individuals focusing on game development, web development, and project documentation.

Next Steps:

  • Complete the SRS document and finalize the project scope.
  • Detailed design phase for both the website and the game, including mockups and prototypes.
  • Setting up the development environment and tools required for the project.

How to Get Involved:

As we are still in the planning phase, we highly encourage feedback, ideas, and suggestions that can shape the project's direction. Please feel free to share your thoughts or express interest in contributing to the project:

  • Feedback on Requirements: Suggestions for features or educational content you'd like to see.
  • Design and Usability Ideas: Input on the game and website's design for an engaging user experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Advice or contributions towards our technology stack and development practices.

Acknowledgments:

We want to express our gratitude to our professors and advisors at UMGC for their guidance during this crucial planning phase. We also want to thank our team members for their commitment and collaborative effort in defining the project's foundation.

Stay Tuned:

This is just the beginning of our journey. Stay connected with us for updates as we transition from planning to development, bringing our educational hangman game and website to life. Your support and contributions will be critical to our project's success.

Thank you for your interest in our project. Together, we aim to create an engaging and educational experience that makes learning programming concepts fun and accessible to everyone.
