@bisq-network/contributors, please submit any compensation requests by EOD on Thursday May 31st.

As usual, instructions can be found at https://docs.bisq.network/dao/phase-zero.html#how-to-request-compensation. Thanks.

I was thinking of submitting but I honestly have no clue how much to request, as I have no clue how to value the work I did or the BSQ token itself. I don't have any correlation to real life scenario. If someone could provide some BSQ amounts in comparison to USD, it would help me get an idea.

@rex4539, the short answer to your questions are as follows:

  • During Phase Zero, we are operating with a 1 BSQ == 1 USD valuation for the BSQ token. See https://docs.bisq.network/dao/phase-zero.html#establish-and-refine-the-fair-market-value-of-the-bsq-token.

  • The value of the work you have done is fundamentally subjective. To approximate it, you should ask yourself "how much value do I think this work has added to the Bisq Network and its users?". While no precise "right" answer can ever be given in response to this question, answers can be given that a majority of Bisq stakeholders would agree is reasonable. That is what you're shooting for, since it is Bisq stakeholders that will be voting on your compensation request.

This all sounds complicated, but in practice, it's been pretty easy. If you look back through recent compensation requests, you'll find contributors doing their best to estimate the value of their work, and you'll see that for the most part, other stakeholders agree, and vote in the affirmative. When in doubt, just ask around in Slack. Join the #compensation channel, and ask the stakeholders there whether they think your request is reasonable, i.e. whether it's something they'd vote to approve.

There is one very important constraint to keep in mind, though, and that is that the work you request compensation for must be delivered work. For example, if you reviewed a work-in-progress document (which you recently did, thank you), you should not request compensation for that work until the document has been delivered, i.e. published and promoted. The Getting Started with Bisq document you contributed to is a good example of work that has been delivered in this way. It has been merged to bisq-docs master and therefore published, it has been announced and promoted via Twitter, and it has been linked to from other key resources such as the main Bisq website. You can read all about what it means for work to be delivered in this recently accepted proposal: bisq-network/proposals#19.

In any case, please do submit a compensation request. Your recent efforts (including your many typographical and grammatical fixes) have been much appreciated!

This change updates the compensation request issue template to reflect
the sections I used in my request last month at #68. It more clearly
distinguishes between delivered work and works in progress and calls out
a separate section for roles performed.

The goal is that this change is being made in time for most
@bisq-network/contributors who intend to submit compensation requests
for the June 1st–3rd voting round at #70 (several have already
submitted, and so will miss this template change, but can adapt
their existing requests accordingly if they like).

Compensation requests have been staged in the BSQ stake and vote tracking spreadsheet, and the voting period is now open.

The specific worksheet for this month is at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xlXDswj3251BPCOcII-UyWlX7o7jMkfYBE-IZ5te5Ck/edit#gid=722083962

And voting instructions are at https://docs.bisq.network/dao/phase-zero.html#how-to-vote.

Some of you will be voting for the first time and will need access. Just request it and I'll grant it.

I am a day late in getting this out, so please complete your voting by EOD on Tuesday June 4th instead of Monday the 3rd as originally planned.

Thanks all.

The voting period is scheduled to finish at EOD today. Due to some extenuating circumstances, I am unable to complete my own voting until tomorrow, however, so let's extend that deadline by just a bit. As soon as I've got my own votes in tomorrow, I'll tally everything up and publish the results here as usual.

So: if you have not voted yet and wish to, please do so between now and tomorrow morning European time, thanks.

This voting period is now complete, and the results are as follows:

10 contributors submitted 10 compensation requests.
1 was a first-time compensation requests (welcome @rex4539!)
7 stakeholders voted.

Total compensation requested was 37,332 BSQ.
Total compensation received was 37,332 BSQ.

We have now completed 8 monthly voting rounds. In total, we have approved the creation of 366,764 new BSQ, or roughly 46,000 BSQ per month on average.
