WP Search with Algolia plugin Installation
WP Search with Algolia system requirements and plugin installation.
This plugin relies on the Algolia service, which requires you to create an account at https://www.algolia.com/users/sign_up.
Algolia offers its Search as a Service with usage based pricing, including a Free Plan which includes 10,000 search requests and up to 10,000 records per month. Refer to Algolia's pricing page for more details.
Note that there isn’t a direct correlation between the number of posts in WordPress and the number of records in Algolia. Also note that Algolia only offers support to paying plans.
On average, you can expect to have about 10 times more records in Algolia than you have posts, though this is not a golden rule and you could end up with more records.
The WP Search with Algolia plugin for WordPress has a few system requirements to be able to work properly.
You will need to make sure your server meets the following requirements:
- WordPress 5.0+
- PHP 7.2 or greater
- MySQL 5.6 or greater
- cURL PHP extension
- JSON PHP extension
- mbstring PHP extension
- OpenSSL greater than 1.0.1
It is possible that the plugin might work on lower versions of the listed requirements. However, we recommend you use up to date versions for PHP and WordPress as breaking changes may be introduced in the future.
If you have the Search by Algolia – Instant & Relevant results plugin installed, please deactivate it first.
From your WordPress dashboard:
- Visit Plugins > Add New
- Search for “WP Search with Algolia”
- Activate WP Search with Algolia from your Plugins page
- Click on the new menu item “Algolia Search” and enter your API keys
