The highlight of this update is of course custom mode. You will be able to toggle settings and sliders for your run before starting it, with it affecting a hidden stat that determines the game's reported difficulty. Does not display in rankings yet.

Other changes:

  • (major change) Chapter length has been reduced right down to 4 to make runs faster.
  • Various bugfixes including:
  • Fixed a rare crash with bleeding
  • Fixed Dwarf King summoning mobs faster than intended
  • Fixed boss levels sometimes not appearing

v0.4.12 - Fixes and balance + potential release candidate

The highlight of this update, though most of the changes are simply fixes, is probably the change to text from Morale loss. Previously, a message was printed to the game log, but I doubt many people read or even noticed it. Now, the messages are shortened, and appear for a short time above the player, so they are more noticeable.

Fixes:

  • Fixed incorrect descriptions of many items, items changing descriptions/names on restoring the game, unique items such as Mage's Staff or Rogue's Garb appearing to be a regular weapon/armour
  • Fixed the Yog fight never ending, although you may have to kill him again once if you reached the depth (so sorry!)
  • Implemented a way to cycle weapons without attacking
  • Fixed the DM 300 fight for real
  • Fixed health indicators always showing, and by extension Mimics being outed!
  • Fixed Scrap not restoring when re-entering the game

Balance/improvements:

  • Shields have had defence increase halved like armour
  • Skeleton heaps are no longer default

Fixes:

  • Dwarf King can be defeated now - armour shield regenerated used to confuse the game with his main shield in phase 2
  • Fixed wands having 0 or 1 charges
  • 0 Stealth no longer = infinite stealth
  • Fixed inverted steal chance
  • Fixed grass growing underwater with Blooming enchantment
  • Fixed odd visuals for dying while diving/undiving
  • Rogue item desc no longer mentions Cloak of Shadows
  • Morale loss when drunk is no longer possible (previously you still lost it but it didn't show)
  • Fixed mining the same Dark Gold Ore vein twice
  • Fixed torn Bronze Door visual in Prisons

Improvements:

  • Banner now has Powered Pixel Dungeon logo
  • Inventory window is wider
  • Screen shaking is no longer ridiculous
  • Better 0.8.2 Shattered settings window
  • Cursed's stealth system rework ported. Now mobs should notice you more reliably and run away in the middle of a fight far less.
  • Scroll of Lullaby can now be used if HP or Morale is less than full

Balance:

  • Mob damage scales at half the speed and armour blocking at 2/3 of the speed. This should both reduce emphasis on armour and increase its power

Fixes:

  • Weapons no longer say "blocks 0-X damage" as this is inaccurate and they add the max number there to your max shield.
  • Single handed property is now correctly listed in weapon descriptions
  • Dwarf King soft lock fixed
  • Removed pit rooms (they may be problematic after I add alternate depths)
  • Darts now have infinite uses and display as such (was a bug)
  • Fixed defensive weapon properties sometimes having ridiculous numbers
  • Wands no longer apply enemy defense before proc
  • You will no longer find yourself inside a wall if you ascend to Dwarf King or DM-300 level
  • Removed random "3"s in the log during Tengu fight
  • Fixed Scroll of Transmutation crashing on wands and melee weapons
  • Fixed level duplication when starting a new game in a save slot that previously was corrupted
  • Fixed exotic items not having an image
  • Fixed incorrect description of stats in "more info"
  • Fixed rare missile weapon crash
  • Fixed weapons/armour randomly changing images/names when reloaded

Improvements:

  • Property chance to spawn on items drops off much faster
  • Sacrificial Fire gives player 0 stealth while it's buff is applied
  • Demon Spawners reduce damage scaling with max HP, so they aren't OP.
  • Ripper Demon Evasion nerfed
  • Great Crab now has low Perception and can be more easily surprise attacked.
  • Breath no longer runs out while on bubbles

Changes:

  • The game is now named Powered PD. Not all text will have changed to reflect this yet tho.
  • Armour now has unique images for each tier like weapons.
  • Some new Morale-dependant text

Fixes:

  • Issues with picking items up into bags in some cases
  • Difficulty Button not staying visually disabled if disabled after selecting a class and crashing the game sometimes
  • Long pressing inventory button crashing the game
  • Level duplication with corrupted saves
  • Rare crash with Assassin's Preparation buff.

v0.4.8a - New weapon sprites, armour rework

0.4.8a Fixes:

  • Fixed some incorrect weapon sprites
  • Fixed crash on shop floors

0.4.8a changes:

  • Fixed Ethereal and Lead Armours being the wrong way round.
  • Changed the way properties for armours and weapons are randomised
  • Added a single handed property to match the dual handed one, along with a new set of sprites.

In this release, Armour has been reworked:

  • Now provides a regenerating shield rather than damage reduction
  • Individual armors will have unique shield, shield regeneration, and resistance/weakness to magic/physical.

Fixes:

  • Fixed red +0 on unidentified upgraded items for real this time :P
  • Fixed Spirit Arrow having the wrong sprite (or none actually, it was using the placeholder)
  • FIxed alcohol incorrectly referencing a removed mechanic

Other tweaks:

  • The exp bar in the UI is now 2px high, up from 1
  • Shield now appears over the top of your health as a second bar (think Mega Man Zero boss HP bars), rather than after it.

As the title of the release suggests, there are new weapon sprites in the game! Rather than having a fixed sprite based on stats, weapons now have one based on stats and tier. Each tier has a different sprite.

Fixes:

  • Rare crashes when resurfacing
  • Fixed red +0 on unidentified upgraded items

Other:

  • Stat system reworked - only 1 point is gained to distribute on leveling up, but it's 3x as effective. Shouldn't impact balance, only help with choosing the stat to upgrade being hard.
  • New rare item "Potion of Forbidden Knowledge" which gives a distribution point at the cost of 40 - 60% of your Morale
  • Alcohol nerfed greatly (but also Morale's effect on accuracy and evasion)

V0.4.6b - Ported V0.8.1 Shattered, fixed many bugs.

V0.4.6b fixes:

  • Freezing at tengu
  • Turn meter going infinitely until re-entering the game when trying to ascend on a locked depth
  • Bags having hidden slots
  • Bags sometimes filling beyond capacity

Shattered Pixel Dungeon 0.8.1a has also been ported, fixing a few bugs of it's own.


V0.4.6a fixes the following issues:

  • Buying window having the wrong sizing
  • Infinite inventory
  • Scroll of Transmutation using Upgrade icon
  • Diving/undiving placing the player in incorrect locations
  • Rare crashes when Wraiths teleport on their first turn

Stealth has also been rebalanced a little and difficulty can once again be selected when creating a new save.


Fixed various critical errors preventing the game being finishable:

  • Fixed DM 300 exit not working
  • Fixed Dwarf King exit not working
  • Fixed Dwarf King fight softlocking if you can't do enough damage
  • Fixed Yog exit not working

I have also ported Shattered PD V0.8.1 and added an updated changelog.

V0.4.5c - Diving and balance improvements

V0.4.5c:

  • Rebalanced magical defense and fixed bugs with it
  • Fixed a crash when starting a new game
  • Balance changes to many late-game mobs and bosses

This version has improved the in-game diving system. The underwater map is now 2x smaller (half the size) and so is easier to navigate. Other chages:

  • Loot on diving levels is 3 down from 10
  • Bubbles on diving levels are 5 down from 10
  • Loot on normal levels is reduced to about the same as Shattered to prevent clutter
  • Mobs do a little more damage, except slimes who do ~33% less
  • Buffed Ripper Demons bleed and nerfed damage
  • Fixed freeze from zapping cursed wand
  • Fixed scrap and weapon kit being upgradable + scrap stacking to 0 and causing bugs.
  • Fixed resurrected Ghouls having 0 HP

V0.4.5a has the following fixes:

  • Scrapping a weapon with a full inventory does not drop the scrap
  • Diving and resurfacing may place the player inside a wall/otherwise not where they should be.
  • Guardians from the traps used to have Ankhs which made the trap more harmful than it should be
  • Frost elementals are now weak to fire.

V0.4.5b has the following fixes:

  • Fixed Dwarf King fight
  • Fixed more instances where hero respawned from resurfacing in the wrong place
  • Magical DR is now based off focus not upgrade level
  • Fixed a couple crashes

V0.4.4 - Improvements to stealth system, new Rogue item

In this release, the Rogue's Cloak has finally been replaced. Instead of it, he has a "weapon kit" which can change the properties of weapons at a cost.

Additionally, the stealth system has been tweaked to prevent it being a binary noticed/not noticed system. Mobs will gain and lose "suspicion" and when it reaches a threshold will hunt their enemy and be capable of attacking.

There are also some balance changes and fixes:

  • Fixed inverted property chances for bolt wands
  • Nerfed enemy armor scaling
  • Fixed Jellyfish and Necromancer shooting through walls
  • Fixed crash and softlock from Unstable Spellbook
  • Fixed melee weapons sometimes having higher min damage than max
  • Weapon properties are normally distributed so, say, +20% of a stat is more likely than +80%
