NPC update. Just a reminder that the game focus around 6 challenges and especially "Lunatic" and "Gensokyo", and from v0.0.25 this version include:

  • 9 more NPC but only in Gensokyo challenge, they have different quests that should make the progress less prone to RNG. Fulfilling their not-so-hidden requirement will give you better reward and give you and "Encounter note". These note are an indication that you might have unlocked something new so make sure to read them (or just funny text).
  • Mob and Hero balancing.
  • More bugs and weird interaction fix.
  • Finishing up and balance the new weapons.

I would say the game is in a decent state, I can clear 6 chals pretty consistently, yet it feel more challenging (and maybe more annoying too) than normal SPD. Though I think the new NPC might make the game a bit too easy, but it is going at the direction I wanted. I still think there are a lot more to do to make all the mechanics complement each other more... Plan for next update:

  • Balance the bosses and try to finish the 3rd boss.
  • I'm considering some NPC for the normal SPD path, even their own encounter note to unlock even more stuff.
  • Another version of Yog which is harder to make good used of the NPC reward.
  • A secret final boss for Gensokyo challenge only, you might want to figure out how to get the extra/better reward from NPCs to unlock this boss.
  • Implement more badges.
  • And since I'm quite happy with the game flow now, I should focus more on SFX, VFX and sprites.

Small update, I'm stuck with Graduation Thesis so I can't do much nowadays, so I'll have to apologize for even slower update.

From v0.0.2, this update include:

  • Mob and Hero balancing: not much but there are quite a few tweaks here and there
  • Lots of bugs and weird interaction fix, lots of code refactors
  • A bunch more weapon up to T4, currently finishing T4 and doing T5. Lots of weapon have skill that cost weapon SP, gain SP by normal attacking.
  • Ascension run now possible since it will spawn normal enemies instead
  • Pray that I didn't miss any big/obvious crashes

First big update, follow the readme in the main github repo for current overall progress. This update include some changes:

  • Lunatic Challenge: every monsters have additional perk or skills, be extra careful. Doesn't affect most bosses
  • Gensokyo Challenge: New monsters new bosses up to floor 20, an alternative path that's harder on paper and force you to always be on the move. Haven't touch NPC so Imp quest will be impossible to finish, ask well as the blacksmith quest that need you to kill bat. Still need balancing (so don't forget to give your feedback)
  • A few weapons to change things up a little bit, they will be important later on.
  • Small changes to characters
  • Small bug fixes
  • Pray that I didn't miss any big/obvious crashes

Gensokyo challenge is the current focus, I'll try to balance it, make it more enjoyable as well as finish 25 floors. No plan for AscensionRun though, I'll make something different instead. Next update would be about gear and artifact, I'll also include secret gears and artifacts and find a place (in-game) to drop hints.

Edit: Ascension Run take a weird turn: enemy don't get buff by Ascension but they will not reduce amulet curse either so basically you just go back with big handicap but remain relatively powerful. Seems fair

The very first release, forked from SPD v1.3.1, GensokyoPD currently have:

  • 4.5 new characters: Reimu, Marisa, Koishi, Reisen and the unfinished character Sakuya. They all have mostly unique talents
  • Some starting melee weapon belong to those characters, have scalable effect that hopefully is viable enough to dump all SoU into them for a fun run.
  • A hat for Koishi
  • Only gameplay changes, haven't touch credit, news, changes, etc menu.
  • No new quests, area, depths,
  • Haven't even test the game throughout yet so the balance is probably very funny.
