Bioturbation and biodeposition by intertidal crabs - a blog with results

A reader's friendly version of this repository can be found here

The reason for this repository

I want to use a transparent, reproducible and open approach in my research projects. A first step I have already implemented is to make the data and code associated to my research available to everyone. A second level of transparency and reproducibility which I am currently employing is to make public the computational environment where figure, analysis and models were done. This is, create a virtual environment containing the specific version of software and libraries used in a particular manuscript or product. I am currently using Jupyter Notebooks, RStudio and the fabulous MyBinder for this purpose. I am always keen to know about alternative software and workflows. In this repository, I am trying to employ a third level of transparency, this is, sharing preliminary ideas, analysis and results as blog posts. This serves two purposes:

  • Increase or improve research accountability by explicitly reporting objectives, experimental designs, methodological flaws and limitations, early findings and ideas during data analysis, and previous the manuscript submission to a scientific journals.
  • Improve the way science is communicated using a more organic format which allows to combine text, code and figures.

The full research code used in this repository is available in another repository (currently private). The full code for deploying this blog can be found in the fastpages GitHub repository.
