Here we can plan community and outreach activities

Institutional activities

With university libraries:

  • encourage university scholars to upload their work via AfricArXiv on one of the three partner platforms: https://info.africarxiv.org/submit/
  • work on a revenue model for institutions on at least one service offered by AfricArXiv to make the repository more sustainable.
  • postprint manuscript abstracts and summaries will be translated into one or more local languages and translations be archived as supplementary material to the manuscript as well as disseminated as blog posts with author interviews and lay summaries in collaboration with local/regional science journalists.
  • translations of the abstract/summary into French, Arabic, Portuguese allow for knowledge exchange across language barriers on the continent.
  • recruit fellows based on the respective universities, to promote AfricArXiv and support scholars that may need to use AfricArXiv services.

With the community:

  • Bringing AfricArXiv to the people during the Science Communication Events (Collaboration with local science communication event organizers e.g Pint of Science Kenya, TCC, Falling Walls Enagage Hub Kenya...)
  • Setting up a booth with posters/fliers, banners and volunteers to talk about AfricArXiv to interested audiences. Also creating a short video of HOW TO/ABOUT AfricArXiv to enable interested audiences learn in a structured manner and be able to engage easily with the website and the resources. Reaching out to University faculties and Libraries to sell/share the services that AfricArXiv is offering.
