Don't just say "Satellite",

Say "Satellite (Z<14)" etc. as a little hint that one should brace themselves for lower quality than other sites'.

Hi @jidanni, thanks for this small improvement. Changes are already deployed to osmapp.org
Feel free to comment if you have other ideas 🙂

I will leave this issue open, because this needs more care. OFC I have developed osmapp mostly at my home location, where the sat is ok.

#155 should immediately or eventually resolve this issue

I think this issue actually surrounds the fact that our only satellite imagery is only <14. Adding Bing aerials as the preferred satellite layer would resolve that. Whether Bing satellite replaces the current option or is along side it, it would resolve this in my opinion.

We don't need to "warn" them, they are going to find out about the <14 once they get there, plus the fact that the effective zoom level is different in different locations makes the warning arbitrary, and may end just be confusing to some users.
