Hi All,
I am using velero in our prod eks cluster for backup some of our pv's. And now we are planning for DR AWS account, so if any disaster comes, we really want to restore the pv's in DR AWS account EKS cluster, which is also running in another region. So how can I restore the backups available in our primary region to the secondary region?
I know we can use some cross-account roles and access in the primary account from DR account. But my doubt is, suppose the EC2 is fully down(Disaster) in the primary region, we cannot use the volumes/snapshots or anything? If that is the case, cross account role is useless.
So I think we can override the situation using, continuously replicate or synchronize data from the primary AWS account to the DR AWS account.
But I don't know how this works, because we need to replicate the S3 buckets and snapshots. If I copy the snapshot from one account to another account snapshot id will change and S3 will have some metadata with the snapshot id. So this case, the metadata will not match with copied snapshot from the primary to DR account.
Can someone please help me to understand this and how can restore the backup to the DR account eks cluster?
