Although YOLOv5 performs pre-processing and post-processing on the CPU, it is currently not possible to perform all processing on the GPU. Performing all processing on the GPU would require significant changes to the codebase, which would also affect its performance. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of the YOLOv5 codebase, significant changes would be required to perform pre-processing and post-processing on the GPU. This change will involve redesigning the way YOLOv5 works, and it would require modifications to very fundamental parts of the codebase. Description
yolov5 does both the pre-processing (image resize) and post-processing (NMS) on CPU while detection on GPU. Is it possible to do all the processing including pre and post processing on GPU.? how can I do that in order to optimize my hardware utilization?
Use case
it will speed up the detection results and the GPU will be fully utilized. currently the CPU cannot be synchronized with GPU that burden the CPU and deteriorate the speed. The GPU will do the all the object detection processing and CPU will be free for other tasks.
