The CH340 / CH341 is an inexpensive USB-Serial chip made by Jiangsu Qinheng Co.. These chips can typically be found on Ebay or similar for around US$1.00 to US$0.50 per chip, depending on order quantity. Drivers can be downloaded from the manufacturer if they are not already included in your OS distribution.
