Using ueberzugpp we could have images in wayland and xorg/x11 for all terminals including things like alacritty and kitty( though this would not needed it as it has its own image protocol ).
Would mean there is less limits on what ways people can get images in their terminal when browsing the web using w3m.

To be frank, there is not that many people working on w3m right now.
It's unlikely someone will pick up that feature request.
The best way to get this forward is to start writing a patch. If you get
stuck feel free to ask in #w3m on libera.chat.
