Maybe it makes sense to have the segmentation engine implemented as an always-running server (and maybe it talks JSON and/or some other formats/protocols)?

If so, we could go further into decoupling the webapp and segmentation code... and we could even have the webapp implemented in Python again (bottle.py feels so fitting to what we need).
