I'm reading the log that you've shared but I'm not familiar with this type of failure. You could try making sure that your ruby-build version is at a recent version (check with rbenv install --version), that you've followed our suggested build environment recommendations, and if the failure is while compiling openssl and not Ruby itself, try avoiding openssl compilation by installing it via Homebrew and linking ruby to that (see wiki for instructions).

@AshleyAbramowiczGibbs Sorry, but I don't see anything in your log that suggest that the problem you are experiencing is anything like @zlasa shared above. Could you try running xcode-select --install to make sure you have command-line tools for building installed? Other than that, please check if you added some non-standard build tools or headers to your system. I haven't seen the error dup() must be supported before and I'm wondering whether this is something specific to your machine.

Seeing nearly identical errors on my machine. I'm on an Mac with an M1 chip, my version is 13.2.1, i use homebrew to run postgres in the background, and reinstalling my xcode tools didn't work. To wit:

I'm not sure what causes this, but since the failure is during compiling openssl, you can skip that by installing openssl via Homebrew and linking Ruby to that: https://github.com/rbenv/ruby-build/wiki#suggested-build-environment
