The Cissanthemos font is based on British Library, MS Royal 1 E VI, a fragmentary ninth-century English Bible, the script of which is known to paleographers as "insular hybrid minuscule." Version 3 of Cissanthemos is a color font, in which the text color has been chosen to match the ink of the source manuscript; users can also supply color fill and shadow for capital letters. With OpenType features ss06 and ss07, one can override the font's colors for text or fill; in web pages, it is also possible to override the font's entire color palette. See the specimen page and the documentation (included in this release) for details.

Cissanthemos is supplied in three versions: TrueType (.ttf), which will work in most applications; an SVG version (.otf), which will work in all applications that the TrueType version works in, plus Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop; and a compressed version (.woff2) for use in web pages.
