Reading from the proto3 json standard

Is there any support for or are there any plans to support reading from the proto3 json format? #351 seems to be about writing to this format. I am storing protos generated from another language in this format and would like to be able to read it in.

I have the same need and not sure how to proceed. Could work extending protobuf.js or make a protoc compiler plugin. Both would be a struggle as C++ / javascript aren't my primary languages.
