Would it be possible to get subreddit stats from a date range.

For example, just get just the stats for the month of January 2017?

Technically yes. The subreddit.submissions method can be used to specify a date range. However, this tool currently doesn't have that support. I have been thinking about adding it though. Would you care to give it a go?

I'm still a novice programmer, but I'll be sure to submit a pull request if I figure it out!

Awesome. This is a great way to move beyond that novice status. Please reach out on https://gitter.im/praw-dev/praw if you want any assistance.

The date range feature unfortunately no longer works directly through Reddit so that avenue isn't possible. It would, however, be possible using a combination of pushshift's API and Reddit's info API. I'm definitely interested in merging such a PR, but I won't be working toward it myself.
