browser version inconsistencies?

Since I am having trouble decrypting a BIP38-encrypted paper wallet, and I was pretty sure I had the right password, I thought I would ask here first: The wallet was created in August 2017. Not sure which browser it was; most likely a 2017 version of Firefox, but it might have been Chrome. Have there been any known issues since then with the decryption not working in newer versions of these browsers, like there has been with old versions of Safari? I just want to ask this before I go to a wallet recovery specialist... Thanks in advance!
