Are there any plans on adding configuration options for spotlight?

If so, should there be:

  • some global (site wide) settings?
  • some local (individual) settings?

A list of available options can be seen in the spotlight docs.

Right now we don't have config option at all, but we probably should add at least some settings to the registry.
I would wait with a control panel, until we have decided if this might be part of Plone core. For that we need to PLIP it and the approval. Than we would proably integrate the settings into existing control panels, if that make sense.

Local settings could be interesting too, as a behavior storing it as annotations to Folders/Collections and in tiles.
I'm open for concrete ideas and PR's.

But it is important that we do not over engenier it and keep it simple enough to have it later in core.

As Jens said in the forum:

So, do not bloat the core anymore. In fact it would be good to reduce and simplify core features were possible. The beast is difficult to tame anyway with all it's features

I totally agree with that. Keep it as an add-on. And use a dedicated control panel.
