I am a student enrolled in a software dev bootcamp, and I'm trying to create a Codespace for one of my class projects that uses Flask-SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL. I read the documentation, watched videos on how to configure these files in .devcontainer:
... and I did the steps as instructed. The container build seemed to work fine. I wanted to run my app.py file manually in ipython and then look to see if my model.py file worked as intended and built my table as intended. Before I could do that, however, I had to create the database for my app. So tried this at the terminal:
$ `sudo service postgresql start'
And a got a very long error. The crux of the message was: "LOG: could not bind IPv4 address "127.0.0.1": Address already in use 2023-03-23 19:52:35.156 UTC [4977] HINT: Is another postmaster already running on port 5432?"
I couldn't find help online. Can anyone possibly help me? And please be patient because I'm a student. Thank you!
