Match up with the latest torch version

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently, it supports torch==1.8.1. Due to some compatibility issue, I couldn't use this library locally conveniently with the other latest versions locally. So, I think it would be better to support torch>=1.8.1

@innat, we haven't fully tested the repo with >1.8.1, which is why we have it like this at the moment. We do want to support >1.8.1, for sure, which will be quite shortly.
