Reading aloud responses with an extension that doesn't understand the language doesn't do anything

I'm not sure what the expectation is here exactly but when I click read aloud it does nothing but flicker the reading animation (since the audio is nothing?):

Installing the Korean language extension also doesn't do anything as my OS language is en-AU?
