Microsoft Teams is great for remote work and team collaboration. It’s also good for showing your creativity with your web camera setup. I have seen folks change their background picture and Teams has the ability to blur out your background built in, but what if you want to go to the next level?

Here is how I setup Teams to stream video in the background and how you could build off of the setup to do your own highly produced background video.

Here is a list of the software you will need.

OBS Studio

OBS-VirtualCam

Install Teams and connect to your account.

You will also need some content for your awesome background. Adobe has some paid stock,
https://stock.adobe.com/video. Shutterstock also has some,
https://www.shutterstock.com/video. I leave it up to you to find your own. I recommend keeping it simple. You do not want folks to get too distracted while your background shows in Teams.

Open OBS and create a scene and add the video source. Help on how to use OBS can be found here,
https://obsproject.com/wiki/. If the OBS-VirtualCam installed correctly you will have a link in the menu to start the virtual cam.

Select VirtalCam

Select AutoStart, Horizontal Flip and click Start

After the VirtualCam is started you should see the camera as a selection in Teams.

That’s all there is to it. If you want to add text to your video make sure it is mirrored (Backwards and right-to-left). Remember you can add whatever sources you want you your scene check some of the successful
