This issue came out of a conversation with @Rei-hub and Dr. Torikai from Gunma University Hospital on February 9th, 2022 JST.

Issue #33 introduced Negation expansion in Japanese for very simply structured sentences in the form: XXX は (or が) ない (or なかった - past form of the same Adjectival Verb meaning "didn't exist")

Although it may be difficult to identify Negation spans in more complex sentences, we believe certain expressions commonly used in medical text may follow similar patterns as issue #33.

For example, Negation expressions involving the Sahen verbs 指摘 and 確認 are likely good candidates: XXXは (or が) 確認/指摘 [SuruVerb in Negation variations.]

  • 肺腫瘍の疑いは確認されなかった。
  • リンパ節腫大は指摘できません。

In these cases, the same approach as issue #33 would be followed if the Concept (XXX2) before the particle は or が are preceded by the particle や and another Concept (XXX1).

  • 心拡大や病的リンパ節腫大は指摘できません。

Other possibilities: Negation expressions involving the Regular verbs 認める and 認められる and their conjugated forms - this would be more complicated than the Sahen verbs and thus will need to experiment first.

  • 被爆構造の描出は認められません。
  • 胸壁との間には線状影は認めません。

@Rei-hub has agreed to provide a list of other simple Negation expressions that are candidates for such simple implementations.
