Suspender put up an annoying notification tab while we were watching a movie

All other options are unchecked or left blank

thegreatsuspender put up an update screen while we were watching a movie. I had to get up, flip open my laptop, brighten the laptop screen, unzoom the window to get the cursor, and close the tab, and then do all of the above in reverse. I assume it was prompting me to update it, so I didn't have a good look.

As an extension writer (tabhunter, est. 2007), I feel were guests on the platform, and should behave accordingly. Which means, don't spam the logs, and don't pepper the user with unneeded notifications. I get that you have to take action when TGU undergoes an update (although I'm not sure why, I just always quickly press whatever button is needed to get it out of the way so I can go on doing what I normally do on chrome), but here's a thought:

Notify the user only when it's clear they aren't in the middle of something.

Least frequent case: notify them on startup. This has the downside that if they're starting chrome, they're either in an environment where they start up everything every morning (like in a no-own-machine office, but no one's working in that kind of place right now), or something bad just happened, and they want to get back to what they were doing before. But they'll notice the extra page, and do whatever it is they have to do.

More frequent: bug the user when it's clear they aren't doing something like watching a movie with the family, like on a tab switch.

Do you really need to prompt for an update? Don't these happen automatically?
