When I quote (parts of a) message using the "Quote" dropdown entry, the new message should be related to the message that was quoted.
Why would you like to do it?
When I hit "Reply" to quote a message and reply to it, users can click on the reply and go to the original message. But this seems to require fully quoting the message replied to, which might often be inappropriate. But using "Quote" where the quote can be trimmed currently doesn't allow to easily find the original message, even though it might even be more relevant in these cases to be able to find the remaining context.
How would you like to achieve it?
Since "Quote" is also an operation that works on a selected event, it should be possible to include the same metadata that is also included with "Reply" (e.g. the m.relates_to key).
Have you considered any alternatives?
An obvious alternative would be an editable full quote when hitting "Reply". But this doesn't seem to be the case.
