Manually migrate IIS visualizations to lens in current Kibana version 8.5.0 itself.

Preparation of data for testing

  • Use sample_event.json / setup live instance using docker / mock data using mock server to populate dashboards

Migration stats

IIS Dashboards Before Migration   After Migration
Lens Visualization Lens Visualization New conrol panel
[Logs IIS] Access and error logs 0 5 5 0 0
[Metrics IIS] Webserver Process Overview 0 12 11 1 (Markdown) 0
[Metrics IIS] Website Overview 0 16 14 1 (Markdown) 1
[Metrics IIS] Webserver Overview 0 12 11 1 (Markdown) 0
[Metrics IIS] Application Pool Overview 0 10 8 1 (Markdown) 1
  0 55 49 4 (Markdown) 2

Note: 4 markdowns panels have not been migrated because we don't have any alternatives in lens for markdown.

  • Verification of Dashboard are not distorted in supported Kibana version (8.5.0)

@agithomas @SubhrataK, one of the panel in IIS (Top URLs by response code in [Logs IIS] Access and error logs dashboard) can be unblocked based on the alternative that we discussed for split chart functionality. Hence we will migrate this panel to the table chart in lens.
