Describe the issue or suggestion

Microsoft will only publish packages for distros where .NET packages are not included in the distro archive.

I think we kind of implicitly present the install docs this way, but we might need to change the messaging a bit. Or maybe not do anything, unsure. This issue is here to investigate that scenario.

Further, there is a the scenario where someone upgrades a distro to the latest version and that version provides .NET packages, yet their old previously-but-no-longer-supported packages remain on their system.

Additional items:

  • In Install .NET remove the intro that talks about registering the MS feed. Alter the text and point to the Ubuntu install article.
